Just curious. Do you have a gratitude practice in place? Not to confuse this with saying thank you every time a door is held open for you, or when your kids finally clean up their room after you’ve told them to do it a million times already. Well, actually, yes – appreciate those moments, too! But what I really mean is using gratitude as an essential part of your daily life. Intentionally showing appreciation for the little things, big things, and everything in between. Taking time for gratitude can lift your spirits when you need a boost and create major shifts in your mind, body, and soul. Ever tried it? Today you should go on a gratitude blitz and see how it feels for yourself!!
Why should you practice gratitude in your life?
According to Merriam-Webster, gratitude is “the state of being grateful: thankfulness.” Being in “state” means you are experiencing a feeling or emotion and fully immersed in that experience. It can affect your mood or state of mind. When you are in a state of gratitude, you are experiencing good feelings like happiness and joy. Making gratitude a regular practice throughout your day keeps you feeling better more often.

3 steps to start your gratitude blitz today!
One – Choose thoughts, words, or writing:
No matter where you are, you can take time for a gratitude blitz. Whether in your mind, expressing gratitude aloud, or writing it in your journal, the choice is yours!
Two – Start blitzing:
Remember, when you go on a gratitude blitz, you are spending focused time and attention being thankful for whatever your heart desires. Simply thinking about what you’re grateful for is a good first step. Everything happens in the quiet of your mind and it doesn’t matter where or when you do it! If you want to talk through your list of gratitude, it can be done in a private space, on an afternoon walk, or with someone who could use your encouragement.
You may want to spend dedicated time in your daily practice to journal your gratitude. Grab your favorite journal, find a quiet, cozy spot, and write down everything you appreciate that’s on your mind. In the beginning, you may find it helpful to set a timer for 5 minutes and aim to write the entire time. With each journalized gratitude blitz, you’ll find it easier and easier to go beyond those five minutes!
Three – Soak up the good feelings:
Once you’ve practiced a gratitude blitz, you’ll quickly notice the difference it’s making in your life. You’ll not only feel better immediately after doing one, but the long-term effects will ripple into other areas of your life. You’ll feel lighter, happier, and find yourself leaning towards more positive, uplighting thoughts and language in your relationships with others.
